What’s ITLAB About DENSO IT Laboratory

Shaping the Future,
Led by Lifelong Researchers

From Exploration to Technology—and into Society
─A Research Institute Driving the Evolution of Mobility

DENSO IT Laboratory (ITLAB) brings together passionate researchers who thrive in a highly autonomous environment. With mobility as a central focus, we advance society through pioneering research that opens new possibilities for the future.

Here, you'll find an excellent balance: the intellectual joy of fundamental research and the genuine satisfaction of seeing your work create real impact. Researchers pursue their ideas with true independence while remaining closely connected to industry and tackling meaningful societal challenges.
Your ideas have the power to spark innovation and help shape a brighter future.

Our Role Leading DENSO’s Technological Innovation
Through Cutting-Edge Research

As a member of the DENSO Group, ITLAB plays a key role in addressing business challenges by leveraging state-of-the-art technologies in IT and AI.

While maintaining its position as an independent research institute, ITLAB collaborates closely with teams across the DENSO Group. Our researchers themselves assess the potential of emerging technologies, clarify ambiguous challenges, and turn them into feasible, real-world solutions.

Beyond core mobility challenges such as automated driving, intelligent control, and energy optimization, ITLAB also tackles broader societal issues—including traffic accident reduction, labor shortages, and environmental impact—seeking technology-driven approaches to their resolution.

Our Culture Defining Our Own Questions, Taking on Challenges Together,
and Expanding the Frontiers of Technology

At ITLAB, researchers don't wait for direction—they create it. We work in a flat, non-hierarchical Teal organization, where any researcher can launch new research initiatives and take on challenges with their peers.

Any researcher is free to propose and lead projects (what we call "research clusters"), and to contribute across multiple clusters simultaneously. Researchers with diverse areas of expertise come together, and through active discussion and collaboration that transcend disciplinary boundaries, original ideas and insights emerge every day.

In addition, ITLAB encourages presentations at academic conferences and technical exchanges with external partners. A culture that values open discussion and tangible output further enhances the quality of our research.
